‘Show Desktop’ was a nice and useful feature in Windows 8. In essence, it was a button on the right extreme of the taskbar that allowed you to quickly get a peek at your desktop. Clicking on the button minimizes all the windows, allowing you to get quick access to icons or widgets on the desktop.

Windows 8 comes with a new tile based interface dubbed Start screen. The Start screen is loaded every time you login, and you can go back to the classic desktop by hitting Win+D or by clicking on the Desktop tile in the Start screen.
There is no inbuilt way to disable the start screen and launch the Classic Desktop directly, but if you’ve been using Soluto on Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 8, there’s an easy way to do it.
