If you upload photos to Flickr, chances are you might want to let your friends and family download all your photos in one go. However, Flickr doesn’t provide a way to download photos in a set at once.

However, a third party app by the name Flick and Share comes to the rescue. Once you connect it to your Flickr account, you can use it to generate a short URL for any photo set that you’ve got. You can then share this link with anyone and they can click on it to download all the photos in the set immediately.

Here’s a thorough review of the application in action.

First you go to FlickandShare.com and hit ‘Start Now’

You can then login with your Yahoo! ID and password.

Once that is done, you need to explicitly authorize ‘Flick and Share’ by clicking the ‘OK, I’ll authorize it’ button. This will let the application access your photos so that it can make them available for download later.

All photo sets from your Flickr account will now be displayed. You can hover over any of them and choose ‘Share’.

Wait for a few seconds as the service now tries to access your photos. Once the background processes are complete, you’ll now be informed that your photo set is ready for sharing. Click ‘Get your sharing link’.

The link will now appear. Click ‘Copy to clipboard’ to copy the URL. You can then share the link via email, Facebook, Twitter.

Anyone opening the link will be greeted by a page similar to the one below:

When ‘Download the set’ is clicked, a Java applet will run on the browser.

The ‘Browse’ button can be to choose a location where the photos from the Flickr set have to be saved. The photos will start downloading when the ‘Download!’ button is pressed.

There are a bunch of tools and apps that let you download photos from your Flickr albums at once, but Flick and Share lets you share them with anyone in a jiffy using just a URL. Check out Flick and Share.

If you know of similar services, please tell us in the comments section below.

If Grooveshark is your number one destination for music all day, read on. We’ve got five tips you can use to make the Grooveshark experience better.

1. Put GrooveShark On Your Desktop

Go here and get the Adobe AIR based GrooveShark app. Install it and you can then launch GrooveShark by clicking on a desktop icon. You don’t have to fiddle with browser tabs anymore. It’s almost like a desktop music player. Download it here.

2. Remove The Annoying Ads

If the ads on the sidebar on Grooveshark annoy you and make the Grooveshark experience less enchanting, it’s time you install this extension for Google Chrome. Advertisements won’t show up the next time you visit Grooveshark.com. If you’re using Firefox, install this Userscript instead.

3. Control Grooveshark Using Keyboard Shortcuts

If you live by GrooveShark all day, you can install keySharky that helps you add any custom keyboard shortcut to play, pause, stop, go to previous/next song on GrooveShark. keySharky’s Firefox counterpart is here.

4. Quickly share songs from Chrome Toolbar

If you like sharing music with your friends, you should check out TinySong’s Chrome addon. You can click on the addon’s icon in the Chrome toolbar to type a song, get a link and share it on Twitter or other social networks. The song will play on Grooveshark.

5. Forget switching tabs to control Grooveshark Player

You’ll often have to switch tabs to control the music being played on GrooveShark.com. sharkZapper for Google Chrome adds a toolbar icon with playback controls – you can pretty much do anything on GrooveShark from the Chrome toolbar without leaving your browser tab – play, pause, go to next/previous song, favourite and a lot more.

If you’re still using Firefox, try GrooveShark Remote Control.

6. Show Lyrics for Songs

This addon for Google Chrome fetches lyrics for the currently playing song from LyricWiki.org and displays them right on the GrooveShark page. You have to hit the ‘Ly’ button on top and the lyrics will show up. This, along with, with the Ads-free GrooveShark extension mentioned above, make a good combo.

–

If you’ve got a superduper Grooveshark tip, tell us in the comments section below.

(By Intern Ramesh)

Gmail is the most widely used email service on the planet. Sure, it’s great but sometimes you need that little extra touch which would make things convenient for you and save you some work. For those of you who are never satisfied with what you have, here are five great Gmail Labs features which you must enable.

In case you are wondering what these features are or how to enable them, all you need to do is click on the Settings link on the top right corner when you are logged in, hit the Labs tab and then browse and find the feature you like.

1. Message Sneak Peak:

I personally find this one very useful and time saving. When you have enabled this addon from Labs, all you need to do is right click on an email in your inbox and the contents will be displayed in a dialog box. This is especially useful when your Inbox is full of clutter – you can peek into each of the mails without having to open each one and go back to the inbox again.

2. Mark as Read Button

Whenever you want to mark an email as read from your inbox in Gmail, you need to click the More Actions button and then choose Mark as Read. If you want to save the extra click, enable Mark as Read Button and a button will appear right next to the delete button. This way,the skipping mails part becomes a wee bit easier.

3. Undo Send

How many times have you accidentally hit Enter when the message box of your email wasn’t active and saw the incomplete mail go through. You do not have to worry anymore. There is a cool feature in Labs named the Undo Send which lets you cancel your sent email by pressing the Undo button. But the catch is that you should be quick enough to notice it and do it within a few seconds of you sending the mail. Great feature!

4. Inserting Images

Email is becoming more and more like a word processor and a lot of features are getting incorporated into it. One thing missing however, is the ability to add images. Thanks to Gmail Labs, you can get this too. Enable Inserting Images from Labs and an icon will now be available for you to insert images into the body of your emails.

5. Inbox Preview

Whenever you get stuck with a poor connection, you find yourself looking at the loading bar after you logged in getting stuck. You eventually choose Basic HTML view after 5 minutes and go into the inbox, only to find a stupid spam email waiting for you there. Inbox Preview is something which will save you such irritation by showing a preview of what’s in your inbox when the loading is still being done. No more frustration and getting angry at the internet connection.

Those were the 5 features I wanted to share with you today. If you have anything else which you would like to add here, or just something you want to tell me, please do leave a comment. I am open to your criticism.

All of us who devour a lot of online content love Instapaper. It’s more than just another web tool – it’s a savior. There are many occasions when we’re busy, and Instapaper comes to the rescue by allowing us to save articles for reading later. It’s a very simple app, but it serves the purpose. Here are six tools that you must know about, if you’re an Instapaper user:

1. InstaChrome

Google Chrome addon InstaChrome allows you to quickly access all of Instapaper’s features. With the click of a button, you can save articles for later reading on Instapaper or see the text view of the current webpage. In addition, you can also use the toolbar menu to quickly access starred and archived items.

Besides just that, having Instachrome installed allows you to use the Alt + Shift + S shortcut key combination to instantly send an article to your Instapaper account.

2. InstaReader

Google Reader allows you to send items on your reading list to Instapaper – you just have to check Instapaper from the Settings – Send To option.

But, if you let InstaReader know your starred items URL, it automatically syncs those to your Instapaper account. No clicks – just hit S on your keyboard for them to be synced to Instapaper.

3. InstaFetch

Instapaper doesn’t have an official Android app – but InstaFetch gets close and does almost all you’d expect in an official app. Instapaper Lite allows you to sync and read articles from your Instapaper account on any Android device.

You can also use the Share > Add to InstaFetch option to save articles to Instapaper from your Android phone. InstaFetch is also available for Windows 7 based phones.

4. Instascriber

If you don’t follow too many blogs and only have a few RSS feeds in your list, use InstaScriber. It auto-adds new articles from any RSS URL to your Instapaper account so you can catch up with your favourite blogs at your leisure. Forget adding them manually.

5. Instapaper Three/Grey Styled

Instapaper site is pretty much bland and doesn’t make the best use of screen space. Instapaper Threestyled makes the site more usable by optimizing the page layout. With Threestyled, your folders are shown on the left, and your articles are listed prominently on remaining part of the page.

You must get the Threestyled userscript if you use the Instapaper.com site itself. However, if you use Instapaper on your phone/iPad, this isn’t of much use to you.

6. Instapaper Beyond – Keyboard Shortcuts

Instapaper Beyond adds keyboard shortcuts to the Instapaper site for quick sifting items on your reading list.

(Full Disclosure: The author is currently working as an intern at Zoho)

Zoho Challenge is a nifty web application that will let you generate tests online in a breeze. Zoho Challenge’s test generator helps teachers by letting them create tests online. They just need to add questions in the question bank, and at the click of a few buttons, they can create tests and assign them to students.

Zoho Challenge has also been adapted by businesses to evaluate candidates for job selection. Zoho Challenge takes all the pain away from the test generation process – teachers only feed the questions, and Zoho Challenge takes care of everything else you can think of – evaluation, results generation and more.

Here’s a quick walk-through showing how to create tests using Zoho Challenge:

Go to http://challenge.zoho.com and login. There’s OpenID support, that means you can also login with your usernames elsewhere. The author used his Google identity to sign in.

After logging in, a question bank can be created by hitting the ‘New Question Bank’ button. Â Give a question bank name, and description and hit ‘Create’.

A WYSIWYG editor makes adding questions quite easy – you can choose between several types – multiple choice, true or false, fill in the blanks or descriptive answers. There’s also support for comprehension – which means you can give candidates a passage or a case study and question them on it – pretty cool, isn’t it? You can assign points, tag questions and hit save.

Once you’ve added all the questions you wanted, just click the green ‘Create Test’ button on the right panel. Hit ‘New Test’ in the page that appears, and you can name the test.

Once that’s done, you can pick questions manually, or have Zoho Challenge fill up questions randomly.

After the questions have been chosen, you can assign the test to candidates. The test can be open, or it can be restricted by email addresses or specific IPs (the latter two are available in the premium version). You can even create a coded tests. That means, candidates can take a test only if they type the right code that you sent them.

(click the image for a bigger version)

Tests can be made available for a specific duration, or indefinitely. A pass percentage can be set, and questions and answer options can be randomized as well. Finally, you can also add instructions for test takers.

When you hit ‘Save Assignment’, the test will  be available in a URL similar to http://challenge.zoho.com/yourname. The candidates can take the test from there.

Check out Zoho Challenge’s Test Maker. If you’re a teacher, and if you’re changing classroom dynamics by using web based tools, let us know in the comments.

Real time search is what everyone wants these days. Google does provide options using which you can restrict search results to web pages published within a specific time frame (like 24 hrs, a week, etc.). All you need to do is go to the advanced search options page to specify the date range. Doing this everytime you do a Google search is pesky and that’s when a Greasemonkey script comes handy.

You can add these date range options permanently to Google home page and search results pages using this Greasemonkey script for Firefox. It just does what it says.

Greasemonkey scripts enhance web pages and add additional functionality to them. Greasemonkey works with Firefox. You can download plenty of Greasemonkey scripts from userscripts.org to spice up websites.

The following Greasemonkey scripts add useful functions to Google’s pages, specifically Web search pages. Have a look at them – they could well improve your productivity.

1. Google Search Sidebar for FF3 – Download

Probably the most useful of all the scripts mentioned here, this script displays a sidebar with relevant content from Wikipedia, YouTube and Flickr when you perform a search on Google. This has been designed to work only on google.com search pages by default, not on your regional search result pages (like google.co.in, etc.)

2. Multi-Column Results – Download

Splits Google search results into multiple columns. It’ll be incredibly useful if you’re on a wide screen monitor. Alt+1/2/3 keys can be used to switch between one, two and three column views.

3. Google Time Search – Download

Shows you options to restrict search results to a specified time period (like 24 hours, past week and so on).

4. Twitter Search on Google Search Pages – Download

There’s nothing like Twitter if you want to know all that you can about some breaking news unfolding in the other part of the world. This Greasemonkey script searches Twitter for your keyword and displays results from Twitter on top of Google search results. If you want Del.icio.us integration, check out this script.

5. Quick Search Bar focus – Download

Google’s homepage is designed in such a way that once it’s completely loaded, the cursor is placed on the search box automatically. This happens only after the page has loaded entirely. Those of you with very slow connections should install this script because once you’ve done that, the cursor is put on the search bar instantly even though the other elements in the page are still loading.

6. Fixed Topbar – Download
