How To Manage Followers On Twitter?

with one comment

(By Ramesh) Twitter has been the best friend of celebrities trying to promote their brand on the internet. But when are you are at the other end just looking to stay updated, you gotta know who to follow and who not to follow. If you do not know what you are doing, you might end up following a guy who can’t shut up or someone who tweets once in a year.

ManageFlitter is a nifty service which helps you manage the people you follow and easily remove the ones whom you think are not interesting anymore. Here’s how you can use it:

1. Visit the ManageFlitter website

Homepage

ManageFlitter is a cloud service which makes it even more easier to use. Just type the URL http://www.manageflitter.com. Hit the Start button in the middle of the screen to get started

2. Allow ManageFlitter access

Allow access for ManageFlitter

In the next screen, you need to click the Connect to Twitter button. This will take you to Twitter’s OAuth Authentication page where you will have to allow access to ManageFlitter by clicking the Allow button.

3. Finding out who you want to remove

Who to unfollow

You will now be redirected back to the ManageFlitter site. To the left, you can see a set of filters – not following back, inactive, quiet, etc. Choosing one of these will display the respective set of users to the right, i.e., choosing ‘not following back’ will display the list of users you follow but do not follow you back.

4. Select the users you want to unfollow

Unfollowing in bulk

From the list of users, select the ones you want to unfollow. If you scroll over each user, you can see their account stats such as last tweet date, followers etc. If you want to remove them in bulk, expand the ‘Page Overview’ and select them by clicking on their profile pictures.

5. Make final changes and confirm

Confirm

Once you have selected the set of users, you can hit the Unfollow Selected button from the right. Make sure you want to unfollow each users before you do this.

Wait for the processing to get over and that’s it. Do this once in a while and you will no longer have boring and talkative Twitter users taking up space on your timeline.

    Interesting Story

Managing your followers and friends on Twitter is not easy. But its a fact that your success ratio and influence power is directly proportional to how active your followers are. I’ve realized that rather than who follows you or how many people follow you, its important to know whom you are following and how active they are.

Some of the factors that will determine your influence power on Twitter are
    - How active your followers are.

    - Do they ReTweet your tweets.

    - Whether they are regularly updated and have a good following.

    - Are those whom you follow, following you back etc.
