Create Dummy Files with the Dummy File Generator
Dummy files can be used for anything from fooling your friends to testing your network speeds. In this post, we’ll explore how you can create dummy files using a tool called Dummy File Generator.
Dummy File Generator can be downloaded here. Once you launch the Dummy File Generator software, a window will appear asking you to specify the size of the dummy file. You can specify it in bytes, kilobytes, MBs or even in GBs. In this example, I’m going to ask Dummy File Generator to create a dummy file that’s about 5 MB in size:

Once you’ve done that, click on the Create File button. A ‘Save As’ dialog box appears, asking you where you want to save the file. Navigate to your desired location, specify a name and click ‘Save’.

That’s about it. The Dummy File generator will display a confirmation dialog informing that the dummy file has been created. You can find the generated dummy file in the location you specified in the ‘Save As’ dialog.
I know there are other tools that do the same thing, but this is a nifty little app with no bells and whistles and just gets the job done.
