ADVERTISEMENTS

Windows 7 supports burning .iso files to CD/DVD out of the box. In earlier versions of Windows, you had to use a third party tool to burn .iso files to CD disks. You no longer have to, because burning .iso files in Windows 7 is a piece of cake, thanks to the inbuilt disc image burning tool.

How to burn .iso files in Windows 7?

This is what you have to follow if you want to burn an .iso file in Windows 7:

Right click on the .iso file and click ‘Burn Disc Image’

Copy iso files in Windows

Choose the DVD drive where your empty CD/DVD is present and then click ‘Burn’

ISO Burner in Windows 7

That’s it. The .iso file will be burnt to your CD/DVD immediately.

Hey Shankar, could you add a search box to your blog? I was trying to find an older post today and currently it’s near impossible to do that. :)

Thanks for the little tutorial. Works great on Win 7 for me. The only difference is when I right click I have to press “Open With” and then “Windows Disc Image Burner”. Then it opens up and works awesome.

Stupid winzip 14.5 overtook the iso association. I deleted the registry entry, but now iso has no default action. any idea how to restore the default?

Nice, except that on my machine running Windows 7 SP 1 I don’t get that option! It’d be nice to know why it’s not there.

Right click on the iso file. Choose “Open with…”. Then, click on “Windows Disc Image Burner.”
