Get the Windows 7 Taskbar in Windows XP
The Windows 7 taskbar is pretty cool and functional, with large icons to help you switch between several programs quickly. Guess what? Now, you can get a taste of the Windows 7 taskbar in Windows XP with the help of a program called ViGlance.

ViGlance makes Windows XP’s taskbar look like Windows 7. With 48×48 icon support, PNG Skins, transparency and transitional effects, this tool does emulate Windows 7′s taskbar in XP to a huge extent. Vista editions are coming, but you can download it for XP right away from here.

Not working properly for me – some buttons are large than others, and buttons overlap, partially hiding some buttons. Not sure why these problems are occurring.

The problem with XP is that it has annoyances that need to be fixed, but MS has wrongfully and maliciously abandoned it. I think you’ll find that most people who want their computers to look like Vista or 7 will just go get Vista or 7 and install it. We want the technical advantages WITHOUT the different look. Does this program you’re shilling solve the problem of tooltips appearing behind the Taskbar? Does it solve the problem of some tray icons not returning when Explorer is restarted? Does it allow you to ‘disable’ hyper-annoying apps like Pidgin that abuse the taskbar flashing? I bet the answer is no, no, no – it’s just supposed to look pretty. Tell us something useful and we might download it! But this page just looks like an advertisement for useless eye candy as it stands now. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that big hinkin’ icons without any identifying text is a major step BACKWARDS from XP. Don’t give me less info than ever before and call it a feature!
