Download VLC Player 0.9.2 for Windows XP
Version 0.9.2 of the very versatile and open source media player, VLC Player has been released for everyone to download. VLC Player 0.9.2 was developed for over two years and sports a very cool and redesigned user interface, as you can see from the screenshot below:
Besides the revamped UI, plenty of new features like album art support, metadata tags editor have been added in this version of the popular media player.
VLC Player 0.9.2 now works with the Last.FM scrobbler and also supports watching Youtube videos directly – just key in the video URL, and watch it instantly from your desktop, on VLC!
I found this 0.9.2 version to be a bit slower than the earlier one that I had installed on my computer. Give it a try though, it’s available as a download from this web page.

The new UI and many new features was already implemented for the Mac version (Leopard update). Good to see VLC getting improved. Still QuickTime rules.

While I agree this is a much needed GUI update, in terms of the quality of decoding I find MPC with ffdshow is still my player of choice. The built-in VLC codecs just aren’t as good. I always keep it close by though for playing those occasional corrupt files. Nice post.
