Dialup users – Make Orkut load faster with the Low Bandwidth Version

with 7 comments

Orkut today brought out a light and zippier version of the site targeted at users who are accessing it on a dial up or a low bandwidth connection.

Dial up users – in order to activate and use the Orkut site in its stripped down, low bandwidth version, you need to do the following:

  • Go to Orkut ‘General Settings’
  • In the page, under ‘Low Bandwidth’ select ‘Show the low bandwidth version of Orkut’
  • orkut_low_bandwidth_how_to_show_use copy

  • Click ‘Save Changes’

You can now start browsing Orkut in your very low speed dialup connection. It’s really a big time saver too. Images will be missing, but can be loaded only upon request.

The mobile version doesn’t support communities.

@Nirmal: I don’t think so, with images it loads a bit slow.
